Me, circa 1974.
Dina Strasser is a fiction, non-fiction, and poetry writer. An ESL and English teacher for many years, she is deeply interested in issues of race, gender, class, education, and the natural world. She has words in The New York Times, The London Times, Orion Online, Full Grown People, Educational Leadership, and EdWeek, and is the co-author of Management in the Active Classroom.
I come from proud generations of Jacks and Jills of many trades, from painting writer- nurses and map-making scientist librarians to rose-growing public radio announcer police officers, and follow in that tradition. With a dual English and theatre BA I trained and worked as an aide for adults with special needs, taught English abroad and in American public schools for thirteen years, produced an award-winning education blog, sang and played music, published, and now work in educational reform management while writing creatively. I live in upstate New York with my husband of 20 years, my mostly fictional but deeply loved garden, two children, and a black Lab named Chanah.
